The Woodlands sits close to IAH, which makes Hobby feel like the odd choice for most people who live there. But if Southwest is your carrier, Hobby is often your only real option, and the drive is worth planning for properly.

Real timing

60-80 minutes is the honest range, since you're crossing essentially the entire metro from the far north side to the southeast side. Traffic through the 610 loop is the main variable.

The route

Typically I-45 South to 610, then across toward 288. If 610 is backed up, we'll sometimes route through Beltway 8 instead — longer on the map, often faster in practice.

Booking timing

Given the length, we'd suggest a bit more buffer than a shorter in-town trip — for an early flight, planning pickup 3+ hours ahead is the safer call.
