Not the optimistic Google Maps number — the real one, with the merge onto 610 factored in.
If you live in Sugar Land and you've ever typed "Sugar Land to IAH" into Maps the night before an early flight, you already know the app is lying to you a little. It'll say 42 minutes. That's true at 11pm on a Tuesday. It is not true at 6:45am when half of Fort Bend County is also trying to get to 59.
Here's the honest version. On a good day, with no wrecks and no construction closures on 610, you're looking at 45-50 minutes door to curb. On a bad morning — and Houston has a lot of bad mornings — that stretches to 70, sometimes 80 if something's happened on the 610/45 interchange. We've had riders whose flights were at 7am who we picked up at 4:45, and it was the right call.
Highway 6 up to 59 North, then over to 610 North, connecting to 45 North into the airport. It's not the only way there, but it's the most reliable for the time of day most flights leave. If 610 is backed up — and there's usually a warning sign about it by the time we're past the Galleria — we'll cut over to Beltway 8 instead. It adds a couple of minutes on paper but it moves.
Distance from your specific address matters more than people expect. Sugar Land is a big area — First Colony is a different drive than Riverstone, which is different again from anywhere near 90A. We calculate the exact fare based on your actual pickup address, not a flat "Sugar Land" rate, so what you see at booking is what you pay.
| From | Typical Distance | Pricing |
|---|---|---|
| First Colony | ~32 miles | Flat Rate |
| Riverstone | ~36 miles | Flat Rate |
| Telfair | ~30 miles | Flat Rate |
| Near 90A / Highway 6 | ~35 miles | Flat Rate |
For a flight before 8am, we'll usually suggest pickup 3 hours ahead — not because TSA at IAH always takes that long, but because the drive itself eats more of that buffer than people plan for. For a mid-afternoon flight, 2.5 hours from door to gate is normally plenty. If you tell us your flight number when you book, we track it and adjust the pickup time automatically if something shifts.
Flat rate, calculated from your exact address. No surge, no guessing.
